Easter Getaways: What’s Still Left to Book (and Where to Go)

26 February 2025: Easter and school holidays are just around the corner and whilst notoriously difficult to get accommodation during this time, ParkBooker have revealed where there are spots left at holiday parks across the country.

1/ Mission Beach, QLD: Reef, Rainforest and Relaxation

If you’re dreaming of a classic Queensland road trip, Mission Beach still has some hidden gems available. Hideaway Holiday Village, located right opposite the beach, has a handful of campsites left for Easter. With calm waters protected by nearby reefs and Dunk Island, it’s a family-friendly spot with direct access to one of the country’s most stunning stretches of coastline.

For those keen to explore, Dunk Island is just a 15-minute ferry ride away and offers rainforest walks, pristine beaches and snorkelling. For an even bigger adventure, a number of reef tour operators offer full-day trips that combine the island with the Outer Reef.

2/ Agnes Water Hinterland: Off-Grid at 1770 Eco Camp

Nature lovers can still secure a spot at 1770 Eco Camp, just outside Agnes Water. While the glamping tents are fully booked, unpowered campsites are still available for those happy to go off-grid.

Set across 42 acres of bushland, this eco-retreat is perfect for travellers looking to slow down and reconnect with the outdoors. Native gums, palms and wildlife – including kangaroos, echidnas, and kookaburras – make it feel a world away from city life.

3/ South Ballina, NSW: A Coastal Reset with Wellness in Mind

Support Northern NSW’s recovery from Ex TC Alfred and enjoy a restorative break at Ballina Beach Nature Resort, where there’s still limited campsite availability. Set on nine hectares of coastal bushland, the park offers a mix of wellness amenities, from meditation spaces and walking trails to an outdoor fitness circuit.

ParkBooker Founder Josh Volk says the wellness facilities are what sets this park apart: “It’s a peaceful spot, and great for anyone looking to unwind over Easter.”

The on-site Turtles Café serves barista coffee and all-day meals – the Moqueca fish stew and salt & pepper squid come highly recommended. In the evenings, the Sunset Bar is a social hub for travellers, especially on Fridays when live local music and happy hour deals set the tone.

4/ Daintree, QLD: Glamping Between Rainforest and Reef

There’s still a chance to book one of the last glamping tents, campsites or cabins at Daintree Beach Resort, located between the ancient Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. With a resort-style pool, beachfront access, and lush surroundings, it’s one of the region’s most immersive stays.

Volk suggests pairing a stay here with a croc-spotting cruise on the Daintree River, followed by a snorkelling trip with Calypso Reef Cruises from nearby Port Douglas. “This is one of those rare locations where you can do reef and rainforest in one trip,” he says.

Families might also enjoy a visit to Hook-A-Barra, a local barramundi farm offering fishing experiences and tours just down the road.

5/ Tasmania: Rugged Coastlines and Seaside Villages

If you’re craving cooler weather and coastal charm, Tasmania still has some options available. BIG4 Stanley offers beachfront camping and cabins right on Tatlows Beach, with sweeping views of The Nut – an ancient volcanic formation that towers above the historic seaside town.

Over on the east coast, BIG 4 St Helens is a modern base from which to explore the world-famous Bay of Fires, known for its striking granite boulders and bright orange lichen. The area is also home to fantastic hiking and biking trails, including the scenic Mount Victoria Summit Trail.

In terms of securing a place to stay for an Easter break, Volk says it’s the last chance now as the online travel agent dedicated to holiday parks is experiencing a last minute spike in Easter bookings.

“While there are still pockets of availability across the country, spots are disappearing fast. If you’re planning to get away, it’s best to secure something now,” he added.
