FAN and FaBA Join Forces to Drive Innovation in Sustainable Food and Beverage Tech

10 September 2024: Developing smart, sustainable food and beverage products and technologies will be the focus of a new collaboration between Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN) and Australia’s Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA).

As one of Australia’s leading food, beverage and agribusiness clusters, FAN continues to shape the industry by creating an ecosystem that supports collaboration, accelerates innovation, and drives trade both locally and globally.

A $160 million initiative, FaBA is backed by the Federal Government and invests with small- to medium enterprise, startups, and large corporations to help grow their business and achieve commercial success by bringing together industry and universities to deliver new innovations, ingredients, products and skills.

Announcing this partnership, FAN CEO, Nicole McNaughton said, “The partnership with FaBA will greatly benefit our members and accelerate their growth.

“From assistance with developing new products and access to research and technology to commercialisation support and collaborative opportunities, our local food, beverage and agribusinesses will gain access to opportunities and systems that will fast track their success.

“Recent figures estimate the food and agribusiness industry on the Sunshine Coast alone is valued at just over $1 billion, and we are confident that with FaBA’s support, we will see that growth continue,” McNaughton said.

Dr Chris Downs, FaBA Director, said, “FaBA has developed an innovative, integrated process to support businesses across the innovation pipeline—from new ideas to new ingredients, building capabilities to building commercial application—that helps lead to commercial success. By working together, we will assist FAN’s members to thrive in the ever-evolving food and beverage manufacturing market.

“This collaboration is about creating innovative products and ensuring producers are set up for success so they will thrive,” Downs said.
